The Name field Back to
top
This is the only required field on the search page. Enter one or more words
of the person’s name.
Some tips for searching...
Case doesn't matter
Searches are not case sensitive. For example, searches for doug jones, Doug Jones,
and DoUg JoNeS will all return the same results.
Spelling
The correct spelling will be required on normal searches. However, if you are not
sure of the spelling you may want to try our Soundex search.
Name combinations
If you are looking for David Louis Smith, you could enter any one of the following:
David Smith, Smith David, Smith, Louis Smith, David Lewis Smith, David Louis, David,
Louis, Smith David Lewis, Smith David
The order of the words you enter is not important. Obviously, some of the examples
above would return too many names. (IE: Smith) The search page automatically limits
results to the first 2,000 records.
Alternate words:
You may not always know the exact name of a person. You can use an alternate word
type search by placing a pipe (vertical bar like this | ) between words. If you
knew someone’s last name, such as Smith, but the first name was either Frank
or Franklin, you could use:
Smith Frank|Franklin
This will find anyone with Smith as part of their name, as well as “Frank” or “Franklin.”
You can string as many names together as you wish. Note that there are no spaces
between Frank and Franklin, only the ‘|’ character.
<space>
Leave a space between words that should be included in the search.
IE: If you wish to search for John Doe simply type in
the name with the space and the name must contain both "John" and "Doe".
| (pipe)
The | character (otherwise known as 'pipe') can be found above the Enter/Return
key.
By placing a | between words, you are, in effect, saying OR.
IE: If you wish to search for Jim OR John
with the last name Doe, you would type the first names with a 'pipe' between
them (no spaces): jim|john and then the last name Doe.
Your entry would look like this: Jim|John Doe

Age Back to top
Enter an age between 0 and 150. Many of the records used in the computerized database
are literally several hundred years old, going back into the 1700's. Some of the
data may be missing from these original records; as well as records that are not
quite so old. If the age at death was unknown, these fields were left blank until
research could be done. Once the research was completed, if the age couldn't be
determined, an age of '999' was used.
|
Age Variance (+/-) Back to top
You can choose an age range variance of 0 to 50 years.
(This is helpful if the exact age is not known.)
|
Year Back to top
Enter [2] two years between which to search. The years you enter are included in
the search. Many of the records used in the computerized database are literally
several hundred years old, going back into the 1700's. Some of the data may be missing
from these original records; as well as records that are not quite so old. If the
burial date was unknown, these fields were left blank until research could be done.
Once the research was completed, if the burial date couldn't be determined, a date
of '1/1/1700' was used.
